Department of Pharmaceuticals Department of Pharmaceuticals Observes Swachhata Pakhwada with Cleanliness Drives Across Offices, NIPERs and PSUs Reinforces Commitment to Cleanliness and Hygiene During Swachhata Pakhwada

Posted On: 15 SEP 2026 8:42PM by PIB Delhi The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, observed Swachhata Pakhwada from September 1 to 15, 2026, with active participation of officers and employees across the Department, NIPERs and PSUs. Pakhwada was observed in line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat”, emphasising cleanliness, hygiene and collective responsibility towards maintaining clean and healthy surroundings.The Swachhata Pakhwada commenced on September 1, 2026, with Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Shri Manoj Joshi, administering the Swachhata pledge to officers of the Department.

During the Pakhwada, a series of cleanliness and awareness activities were undertaken by the Department.

Officers and staff participated in cleanliness drives at their respective workstations and office premises.

As part of the initiative, senior officers and staff of the Department, led by Joint Secretary Shri Aman Sharma, undertook Shramdaan at the Janpath Bhawan Market, New Delhi.The Department also undertook a comprehensive review of old and redundant items, including furniture, fixtures and electronic items, for their repair, disposal and systematic management. A pest-control drive was also conducted at offices.The Swachhata Pakhwada witnessed active participation at all the seven National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs). Cleanliness drives were organised across campuses, with faculty members, students and staff coming together to clean and maintain their respective institutional premises. In a few campuses, plantation activities were also undertaken.

Cleanliness activities were also undertaken at PSUs under the department in various places. Employees participated in Swachhata drives.

The Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India observed Swachta Pakhwada in its office premises and the cleanliness campaign was further extended to Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country. These initiatives helped reinforce the message that clean surroundings are an essential component of public health and well-being.

The Swachhata Pakhwada brought together officers, employees, students, faculty members and others in a collective effort towards cleanliness. The Department reaffirmed the spirit of “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat” and underscored the importance of sustained participation and responsible practices to create cleaner workplaces and communities.
